pray with our feet
It's taken a few weeks to feel like this is something I need to share but after testing it with a few groups here it is...
Pray With Our Feet is a protest song written a few days after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Based on a quotation by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, it speaks back to the shallow 'thoughts and prayers' and inaction of American politicians in face of ongoing mass shootings and gun violence. It's intended to be used in faith-based protests and marches, or as a sending song in churches and synagogues. I've made it available as a free download for the rest of the month and encourage folks to share it at the March For Our Lives on March 24.
Over the last weeks our young people have led the way, and now the rest of us need to be VOCAL and VISIBLE as we work to make a safe, just world for all!
It's not enough to offer thoughts and prayers.
It's not enough to say that we care.
It's not enough to hope that things will change.
We've got to pray with our feet,
pray with our feet, pray with our feet
and get out, out on the street.
